My love affair with @AbuDhabiClassic
Posted on 18-10-2012
I’m in love. And this time I’m pretty sure that no medication was involved.
I was flipping through my car’s radio stations to find a radio show that a friend of mine was supposed to be appearing on. Of course, rather than do the logical thing and ask her what the station number was, I thought it would be far more progressive to manually comb through the stations instead. So I was flipping through the static while perilously trying to stay on the road, when suddenly my car radio blared out that fateful tune:
Figaro… Figaro… Figaro… Figaro…
I had stumbled upon the gem that is Abu Dhabi Classic FM.
I know little about ADCFM such as when it began broadcasting, or who most of its RJs are, nor can I really remember what frequency the station operates on. But what I do know is that I am now totally entranced by the music that this station plays. Of course, Figaro instantly conjured up this very familiar cartoon…
…which if I think about it, is where I heard most classical music growing up – Tom & Jerry.
But what I love most about this station is that is has now firmly replaced all other radio stations that I used to cycle through in the mornings. I love all of the guys that run morning shows and they all do a terrific job, but there is something so utterly magical about driving on the roads and listening to a beautiful piano piece while all around you people drive like morons. I’m happy to report that I personally don’t care if someone swerves in front of me or if the idiot behind me is blaring his horn – I now have an almost zen-like driving experience each morning, thanks to some of the beautiful music that this station plays.
So my hats off to Abu Dhabi Classic FM – you’ve won the heart of this listener. All I can say is bravo and encore.
That makes us two 🙂 I love the dinner jazz after 7.
